Professional Profile

Mr. Ahmad Al-Khowaiter is Saudi Aramco’s Chief Technology Officer. He earned a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), an MS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB), and an MBA degree from the Sloan business school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Mr Al-Khowaiter joined Saudi Aramco in 1983, where he held various technical roles. He led the planning and development of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in 2006. Additionally, he occupied the position of Interim Provost at KAUST in 2007, and Interim Vice President for Economic Development, KAUST between 2008 - 2009. He was Saudi Aramco’s Chief Engineer from 2011 to 2014 and the Executive Director of Power Systems in 2014 before assuming his current role. He served on the board of directors of Petron Corporation in the Philippines from 2005-2007 and the board of directors of Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. from 2011 until 2014. Mr Al-Khowaiter was also a board member of Sadara from 2011-2013. He currently serves as a director on the board of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOC).
